This is my colouring from the Summer Learning Journey. I did the summer Learning Journey colouring yesterday. My whole class signed the Summer Learning Journey. I coloured a picture in lots of different colours. I coloured a few pictures for the Summer Learning Journey from the activity called the art coloring book. Today I did one of the Weekly Challenges that was make a daffodil. I made the daffodil out of an egg carton. How I did it first I got scissors and cut out one of the egg holders and colored the inside orange and the outside yellow I used pens. The last thing I did was take a photo and put it on my blog.
This term Mrs Hickford has taught us lots of things. These are the things that Mrs Hickford taught us persuasive writing what I liked about persuasive writing is that we got to write about why we think Matariki should or shouldn't be a public holiday.
We have been doing spelling and learning all different types of spelling like practicing contractions, long a sounds, and short a sounds.
We have learned how to use google music lab by making music and taping on the screen and making all sorts of music. Yesterday we did sculpt GL where you can drag, paint and inflate a ball and make whatever you want.
We did Matariki activities like one team had straps and one team didn't you had to throw a foam ring and get the foam ring to the goal we played ma and wheto on the turf
In maths, we have been doing tidy numbers and place value tidy numbers is when you get a number that is close to a number and then add on another number to make a number and then add or subtract you use place value when numbers are on nine or under nine.
On Wednesdays or Thursdays, we do P.E. with Naomi where we practice soccer skills like dribbling the ball between our feet and using our right foot and our left foot. Sometimes we do Kahoots. Kahoots are where there are questions you have to answer.
We have been doing a debate on three different topics one of the topics was cats vs dogs, plastic is a problem and the last one is why zoos are good for animals.
We also made flax baskets to put our sausages in. Yesterday we did an animated gif is when you take a screencastify of yourself and download it.

Yesterday my class made flax baskets with flax. Some of the seniors from the Ruma Kereru helped us make our flax baskets. First, we had to put down seven flax pieces going upward then five pieces of flax going under over, under over, under over until you get to the end of the flax do under over to the other four pieces. When you have finished making the mat of your flax basket get the flax sticking out of the side of one of the sides and bunch up the flax pieces you have that you got from the side of the mat and get a piece of spare flax and tie it around the flax that you bunched up do the same to the other side. Next, get some flax that is sticking out of the other sides of the mat do that to both sides. Lastly, make the handle by getting the pieces of flax that were bunched up and tied together with another piece of flax and twist the pieces of flax together that got tied with another piece of flax and your flax basket will be finished. Yesterday my class was doing Matariki art. These are the materials you need to make Matariki art. Newsprint, pencil, scissors, an image of a mountain ridgeline, A4 black paper, chalk pastel, stick-on stars, hair spray, white mounting paper, and a glue stick. First, get a piece of newsprint and get a pencil and draw a mountain ridgeline. Next cut out the ridgeline and put it on some A4 black paper get some colored chalk pastels to make lines upward then smudge up the colors. Then spray hair spray over your art then the chalk won't smudge.
Lastly, get a piece of white mounting paper and glue it to the back of your artwork.
These are the Tidy numbers that I have been learning in maths. Tidy numbers are when you can take a number that is closest to another number and get another number then put that other number onto the first number you had and then take away some numbers to make the number you wanted. Have you ever done tidy numbers before? Do you want to do tidy numbers in maths? Question 1a was 49 + 25 what I did was instead of 49 I put 50 + 25 and I got 75 then I took away 1 and got 74.
Today my class looked at a giant skateboard. Three men came to Kaniere School their names were James, Matt and Beaumont. They brought a really big skateboard. One of the men told us two of the rules of the skateboard the first rule was that we weren't allowed to climb on top of the skateboard and the second rule was that we weren't allowed to climb on the bolts. When we got to go look at the big skateboard there was a cool picture underneath the skateboard. James, Matt and Beaumont brought the skateboard to promote skateboarding because skateboarding has been added to the Olympics Have you ever had three men come to your school and bring a giant skateboard? Today my class did a tangram. First, we had to go to the learning site go to the cyber smart folder. We clicked on a folder that said tangram. We made a copy of it. A tangram is a puzzle of shapes that you put on a black background of an animal. It was hard to do the arrow. Have you ever done a tangram before?
This is my cat Fluffy she is only 2 years old. Fluffy likes to sleep on my bed and eats kitty meat and cat biscuits also temptations. She always meows went she want some meat. Fluffy sleeps on the back of the sofa and looks out the window. She likes to get birds and mice. Fluffy is really fluffy and cute. Do you have a cat? Do you know much about cats? Today my Hapu group Kohai went to Mrs. Scott's class. We made helicopters. First Mrs. Scott cut out pieces of paper. We had to get scissors and cut out around the outlines then we cut on three black lines. We then had to fold two pieces and fold one forward and one backward then fold in two pieces one inwards and one outwards. We went out to the new playground went to the top and flew them down. A few weeks ago we had a beach clean-up and athletics. We had to wear pink or yellow vets to keep us safe and pick up rubbish that we saw with gloves on. There were broken glass bottles, plastic, tiny glass bottles. Have you ever done a beach clean-up before? Have you ever had to do athletics and then go to the beach to clean up?
Today I finished my onomatopoeia art it took me a few weeks to finish. This is how we did it. First, we had to think of a sound or noise and write in our art book. Next, we had to choose a colored piece of paper. I chose yellow paper and the word pop there was red yellow and blue letters. We had to draw a zig-zag, round, square, or other shaped back rounds then we chose red blue, or yellow paint to put around our shapes. We had to stick our letters on our piece of newspaper then our newspaper onto our background. Have you done onomatopoeia before?
Last week we planted plants in the fort. We planted flax plants , rimu trees, spiky plants, and lots more plants. We had to dig a deep hole in the ground. When we put the plant in the ground we had to step on the dirt around it. After we had to water all of the plants that had been planted in the ground. Four of my friends got into a group and got shovels.
Yesterday my class played cricket. Two men had come to our school to teach us some cricket skills. The first thing we played was snowball tag we played three or four rounds. Then we got into five groups and some of the teams went to bat the ball the other teams went and got the ball. Can you play cricket? Can you bat a ball or throw a ball?
